I say, on my website,, “It is my firm belief that my clients deserve, and can have, the kind of work they desire and get paid what they’re worth…and that happy clients result in happier families and communities.”

I do believe it! I listen to my clients for their truth, and when I reflect it back to them, they’re surprised, delighted, tickled. They’re “re-connected to my deepest Self”; they are Gotten. When they share their expanded vision with their loved ones, the whole family gets in on the act.

Funny how I lost sight of the power of sharing what I was feeling and thinking as I went through my own recent work and home life transitions. I was offered a promotion at a point in my life when all I want to do is stop working my j.o.b. I was honored, excited, enlivened. I seriously thought that I could hold two futures simultaneously with ease; promotion and retirement. The promotion involved overseeing (traveling between) 9 programs in Brooklyn and Queens.

Excitement soon dissolved into late, stop-and-go drives home on the Belt Parkway, 9 programs with equally urgent problems, waking up in the middle of the night remembering what I’d forgotten that day, and feeling like I was on speed. Then there was the stuff at home. I became tangled up in one hot mess of a woolly ball of weepiness, sensitivity and feeling that I would “die” as my strong suit of always looking like I have it together was unraveling.

I was reluctant to share these feelings with my closest friend because I really don’t like being vulnerable, and when we finally talked, she understood. She reassured me that I was in the middle of a breakthrough process, and when it came, it would become clear in a quiet, calm way. Then I shared with my weekly business and support calls, and it all unfolded. That’s the miracle of going from the noise inside your lonely head to saying it out loud to people committed to your power and growth.

Within the space of about two days, once I spoke instead of suffered, I was able to make the right choices for myself- I declined the promotion. I am not on a career trajectory at this point in my life and my staff is actually happy I’m not leaving them. I work 4 minutes from home. I found myself looking at the situation at home with a new viewpoint that benefits both of us, and I finished this blog that has been hanging out for about three months with renewed energy for the thing that I love, my business.

The Coach got coached, and all is well!

“Action is a great restorer and builder of confidence. Inaction is not only the result, but the cause, of fear. Perhaps the action you take will be successful; perhaps different action or adjustments will have to follow. But any action is better than no action at all.” Norman Vincent Peale

So, I ask you, is there a choice you know you need to make that’s sapping your energy because it feels like you’ll “die” if you make the one you want to make?  I’m here to support your soul’s choices! Email me to make an appointment for a FREE Consultation Call.

Resumes & MORE! Consulting

About the Author

Susan has always been interested in how people came to be applying for a particular job, and she often saw that there was a gap between their passion for making a difference and the way that their résumé represented them. She often had to restrain herself from offering to completely re-write their résumé. She did, however, find herself turning their résumé around on the desk so they could follow along as she suggested changes that would have it look better and be clearer. She loved the look on their faces and the “thank you” she received as she pointed out simple fix-its.
